SVU. Agent memory, traded as a commodity.

A Standard Vector Unit is the contractual unit for one gigabyte of high-dimensional vector storage with a stated semantic-search latency over a stated retention window. Storage operators list capacity. Agent fleets buy SVUs to dynamically scale memory. Each fill mints a Tre’gent receipt — Ed25519, offline-verifiable, SHOD-gated.

Why this is a commodity

An agent is only as good as what it can remember. To remain intelligent, an agent’s context must be continuously stored, indexed, and retrieved through vector databases. Today this is rented through static SaaS fees at proprietary endpoints. The SVU converts that rent into a tradeable unit: one gigabyte of optimized vector storage with a defined recall latency over a defined window. Operators compete on price and SLA. Agents scale memory like compute.

SUPPLY

Vector storage operators

Data centers running HNSW, IVF, ScaNN, and successor indexing structures over high-dimensional embedding spaces.

DEMAND

Agent fleets and memory layers

Enterprise agents, retrieval pipelines, multi-modal recall systems. Memory needs scale with conversation depth and tool use.

PRICE

Per-GB per-window clearing

Spot price clears against utilization and latency tier. Forward curve emerges as operators list multi-window blocks.

RECEIPT

Per-fill attestation

Every fill mints a Tre’gent receipt asserting the SLA was honored over the contracted window.

Listed sub-symbols

Memory has tiers. Hot, fast recall for working context. Cold, dense storage for long-tail agent history. Two sub-symbols are listed today on the Manuka Exchange.

SVU-HIVEMIND-FAST
Sub-10ms high-dimensional semantic search recall

One gigabyte of vector storage with p99 semantic-search latency of 10 ms or better, retained over a 30-day window. The hot-memory tier for production agents. Routing layers, recommendation engines, and live retrieval pipelines clear here.

How a fill clears

A storage operator lists capacity blocks for a window. An agent fleet submits a memory request keyed to a named SVU symbol. The exchange matches. The operator provisions and returns an addressable handle. SHOD’s six gates check the operator and the buyer. A Tre’gent receipt is minted asserting the GB, the SLA, the retention window, and the operator’s commitment hash. USDC settles atomically. The receipt is verifiable offline against the published issuer key for the duration of the retention window.

Current status

URN reserved at urn:hive:svu:v1. SVU is a Hive primitive. The doctrine is registered in hivetrust.json under the commodity tier. Two sub-symbols (SVU-HIVEMIND-FAST, SVU-COLD-ARCHIVE) are listed on the Manuka Exchange. The public JSON Schema payload at /.well-known/schemas/svu-v1.json targets the v0.3.3 publish window. Hive defines the canonical spec.
