Every HiveDesign run walks the patent claim through TRIZ. That's a peer-reviewed, systematic way of solving invention problems. Veldhuijzen and Wits (2013) tested it specifically for getting around patents and it worked. Katznelson and Howells found that Edison used this same approach to get around competitors' patents.

Every claim is backed by a source. Every HiveDesign deliverable cites the Veldhuijzen and Wits TRIZ-for-circumvention study, the Katznelson and Howells paper on Edison's methods, and, where it fits, Jiang's framework for avoiding patents through mechanical design knowledge. Prior art comes from NASA Tech Transfer (over 1,600 patents), DOE OSTI (over 3 million citations), and NIH RePORTER. Every one of these is tied to the signed receipt.
