Grant
Hive Civilization gives you a personal license to install and use the Hive verifier client and its software development kits (SDKs). This license is non-exclusive, non-transferable, and can be revoked. You can use it only for the purposes below.
This license does not let you use the software for anything outside those purposes. If you want to use it in production, you need a separate Hive service agreement.
Restrictions
You may not:
Open Source Components
Some parts of the Hive client SDKs and verifier binaries come with their own open source licenses. This includes cryptographic building blocks, build tools, and serialization libraries, among others.
Every release comes with a NOTICES file that lists all the open source components, their licenses, and what credit they require. For those specific components, the terms in the NOTICES file come before this EULA.
Updates
Hive Civilization can stop supporting specific software versions, but will give you 90 days notice first. If you keep using an unsupported version, the verification endpoint may show you compatibility warnings.
Telemetry
Telemetry is off by default. You have to turn it on. When it's on, the SDK sends anonymous, combined metrics only. That means things like verifier call counts, latency numbers, and SDK version, so we can keep the system reliable. Telemetry never includes receipt content, agent identifiers, payload hashes, or anything that could identify you personally.
To opt out of telemetry at any time, set the environment variable:
The opt-out flag takes effect right away and stays in effect for as long as it's set.
Cryptographic Export Controls
The Hive verifier client and SDKs include cryptographic functionality. That means they may be subject to export control laws, including rules from the United States Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and similar authorities in other countries.
It's your job to check that your use, export, re-export, or import of the software follows the export control laws that apply where you are and where you're sending it.
Hive Civilization doesn't claim the software is appropriate for use in every country. You may not use the software anywhere the law prohibits it.
Warranty Disclaimer & Liability Cap
The software comes "as is" and "as available." Hive Civilization doesn't promise it will work for any particular purpose, that it won't infringe on anyone's rights, or anything else, spoken or implied.
As far as the law allows, Hive Civilization's total responsibility to you for any claim tied to this EULA or your use of the software is capped at one hundred US dollars (USD $100.00), or whatever you paid for the software in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is more.
Hive Civilization is never liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. That's true even if Hive Civilization knew those damages were possible, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Termination
This license ends right away, automatically, if you break any of these terms. Once it ends, you have to stop using the software and delete every copy you have.
Ending this license doesn't stop receipts issued before that point from staying checkable. A receipt proves itself: its validity comes from the cryptographic proof made when it was issued, not from you still having a working verifier client or an active license. We built the Hive receipt format that way on purpose.
Governing Law
Wyoming law governs this EULA, regardless of conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute over this EULA can't be worked out informally, it will follow the dispute resolution terms in the Hive Civilization Terms of Service, which are part of this agreement by reference.
